Veronika speaks on sea level rise at the London Conference on International Law

Veronika spoke on Panel 5, "Sea Level Rise and International Law", at the London Conference on International Law 2026. Chaired by Alfonso Ascencio-Herrera, the panel — with Nilufer Oral, Juan José Ruda Santolaria, Conway Blake and Jane McAdam — asked whether the existing international legal framework is equipped to deal with sea level rise: from the legal status of states and changing maritime boundaries to displacement, migration and the human rights of coastal communities. Veronika drew on her work as Rapporteur of the UN Human Rights Council Advisory Committee's study on the human rights implications of sea level rise.
