Repairing and Re-pairing: Collective Remedies for Greenland’s Forced Contraception Cases

In a new article on EJIL:Talk!, Veronika Fikfak argues that remedies for Greenland’s forced contraception cases must repair the harm to the women affected and the Inuit community as a whole, while helping to rebuild the relationship between Greenland and Denmark.

Drawing on our expert submission to the Greenlandic inquiry, the article looks beyond apologies and individual compensation to collective remedies shaped with the community — including a reparations fund, truth and reconciliation processes, and cultural and community programmes.
